CANCER IMMUNOTHERAPY

DID YOU KNOW...

In the US, approximately 39% of men will develop cancer in their lifetime. H1, H2

What Is Cancer Immunotherapy ?

Cancer Immunotherapy is the process of using the human body's immune system to effectively combat cancer. There are various types of immunotherapy that can be used to treat cancer.

Monoclonal Antibodies

Monoclonal Antibodies target specific proteins on a cancer cell and are made in laboratories. MAB's trigger the immune system to send cells that will kill cancerous cells. Additionally, MAB's can prevent the proteins PD-1 and PD-L1 from binding with cancer cells. These proteins allow cancer cells to go undetected by the immune system.

Adoptive Cell Transfer

During adoptive cell transfer, scientists remove cells from a tumor and grow a large batch of the ones that attack the mass most efficiently. These cells are then returned to a patient through a vein. This process is used so the body has a larger amount of highly productive cells attacking a patient's tumor.
